It has been announced that Jay Leno will not be leaving NBC, rather moving to the hard-to-fill 9 PM prime-time slot. With ER is its final season, the network seems to be struggling to find ways to fill the holes, with that ridiculous looking Christian Slater show, My Own Worst Enemy, getting the ax a few weeks ago. While this is a smart move for NBC, who are trying to cut $500 MILLION from their 2009 budget (But Leno makes $27 million a year. And he'll probably make more now that he re-signed with NBC), it still leaves them with a problem. They still have Jay Leno.
In 2009, Conan moves to 10:35; something I have been waiting for since I became a fan in the late 90s. But his replacement is Jimmy Fallon. One can only hope it's not Fallon staring at the camera, trying to keep from laughing for an hour. I know I haven't thought about him since he left SNL in 2004 and now he's going to be forced down my throat when the eventual barrage of promos begins next year.
The truth of the matter is that I don't really care. I don't watch Leno and I'm damn sure not going to watch him in prime-time; I can barely keep up with Conan as it is. My problem is that now, without even having left yet, HE'S BACK.
